The network started being unstable and was down every 4-8 hours. I think it’s because I made the CHMOD for the entire wordpress folder different from the default. Turns out CHMOD was not the problem, it was CHOWN. I am concerned that the overly expansive CHMOD may have compromised files in the WordPress installation.
I re-downloaded and untarred WordPress, CHOWN’ed the whole WordPress -RF to www-data (/var/www/aigohost.org/public_html/ CHOWN -Rf www-data wordpress) and CHMOD wp-content to 755. Hope this fixed it. But there could be othe issues, eg is the plugins or themes folder safe?

it still ocassionally goes down, comes back alive upon restarting the server. not sure what the issue may be.
